Overview

This guide walks you through your first login to cmdbx, from receiving your welcome email to exploring the dashboard.

Before You Begin

cmdbx uses a white-glove onboarding process. You should have received:

  1. Welcome email from your organization's cmdbx admin
  2. Secure one-time link to set up your account
  3. Your organization's subdomain (e.g., acme.cmdbx.com)

The welcome link expires after 7 days and can only be used once. If your link has expired, contact your admin to resend an invitation.

Step 1: Click Your Welcome Link

  1. Open the welcome email from [email protected]
  2. Click the "Set Up Your Account" button
  3. You'll be redirected to the cmdbx sign-in page (Supabase auth)

cmdbx uses Supabase authentication. You can sign in with a password or request a magic link.

Step 2: Choose Your Sign-In Method

On the cmdbx sign-in page:

  1. Verify your email is correct
  2. Choose one option:
    • Magic link (recommended): click Send Magic Link and check your email
    • Password: create a password and sign in

Step 3: Complete Your Profile

After creating your account:

  1. Add your name (first and last name)
  2. Optionally add a profile photo
  3. Click "Continue"

Step 4: Access Your Tenant

You'll be automatically redirected to your organization's cmdbx instance:

https://[your-company].cmdbx.com/dashboard

If you have access to multiple organizations, you'll see a tenant selector. Choose the appropriate organization.

Step 5: ServiceNow Connection (Admin Only)

If you're the first user or an admin, you may see the onboarding wizard asking you to connect ServiceNow.

If you're not an admin, skip this step. Your admin will configure the ServiceNow connection.

For admins, the onboarding wizard will guide you through:

  1. ServiceNow instance URL (e.g., https://dev12345.service-now.com)
  2. Read-only credentials (username and password)
  3. Connection test to verify access
  4. Initial data sync (5-30 minutes depending on CMDB size)

See the Connecting ServiceNow guide for detailed instructions.

Step 6: Explore the Dashboard

Once logged in, you'll land on the Health Dashboard. Here's what you'll see:
