Overview

ServiceNow manages your CMDB. cmdbx adds a deterministic evidence layer on top of it: change impact and resilience analysis, sync-to-sync drift history, exposure review, CSDM modeling, and remediation that is verified against the next sync.

What is cmdbx?

cmdbx is a SaaS platform for ServiceNow CMDB teams who need to:

  • Assess change impact for one CI or every affected CI on a change request
  • See what drifted between syncs, and whether a change request covered it
  • Measure CMDB health with deterministic, versioned scoring rules
  • Improve CSDM alignment with validation and visual service modeling
  • Fix CMDB problems and prove that each fix held

How It Works

  1. Connect: Connect your ServiceNow instance with read-only credentials.
  2. Sync: cmdbx imports your CIs and relationships.
  3. Analyze: cmdbx scores CI health with deterministic rules and records what changed since the last sync.
  4. Explore: Examine topology, change impact, and exposure in the Dependency Map.
  5. Act: Fix issues directly or through governed change requests. The next sync verifies the result.

Change Impact Analysis

cmdbx is read-only by default. Write access is optional. It uses a separate ServiceNow credential. Write access is necessary only for CSDM Workbench commits, direct fixes, and change requests that cmdbx creates.
